During his brief but exciting visit to New York City from Tennessee, Jeremy planned to propose to his girlfriend Kayln on the charming Bow Bridge in Central Park. He contacted us a few weeks earlier to plan the whole thing out — and everything went off without a hitch! Well, there will be a hitch, but that will come later! Overall, it was a great day and we all really had a fun time. Typically, we don’t let the girlfriend know we’re there until the proposal is over. Jeremy specifically wanted us to capture her reaction to the big question, and we did! This cute couple really lucked out because we had beautifully mild December weather here NYC. The light was also pretty great for this candid marriage proposal photo session!

We chose some clips we thought showed just how cute these two were on their wedding day. Also included is the entire city hall ceremony, which was fairly brief and also entertaining. If you’re going to get married in NYC’s City Hall, this is certainly the way to do it. A few close friends, plenty of laughs and fun while everyone waited, and an extremely spirited announcer! Dave Helms hired us to shoot this very special moment in his life and we were proud to be part of it! This photo gallery shows Dave proposing to Charity at the Bow Bridge in Central Park, NYC. It was such a pleasure to be able to capture and share this special day with two great people. The logistics were a little awkward at the Bow Bridge on this day since there was a wedding actually in progress when we first arrived. Dave tactically came up with reasons wait on the bridge until it ended, which was easy because Charity (a photographer herself!) was occupied with photographing the wedding! All in all, it was a very fun day in Central Park with decent weather and great vibes. Black Paw Photo congratulates Dave and Charity on their wonderful engagement!

We were in the video making mood this holiday season and so we chose to kick back with some freshly made eggnog and shoot/edit this short video clip. This video teaches you the simple steps needed to make some great smelling holiday decorations — namely, Cloved Oranges. The premise is pretty simple: get some oranges and stick some cloves in ‘em. Why? Well, they smell great and they look awesome. They’re also completely biodegradable and very inexpensive! You can make all sorts of designs and patterns, and they can be made to sit on a plate or be hung in the air by a string or ribbon. We like to keep a few of these bad boys around the house during the holiday months just to add a cool scent to our place.

The supplies needed to make Cloved Orange are: Oranges, Cloves, Pencil or Marker, and Rope or Ribbon if you want to hang them up. Where does this idea of Cloved Oranges come from? Well, we came up with this arts and crafts project from the Hungarian side of the family. In Hungary, Cloved Oranges are a traditional holiday decoration made by many. This Central Park marriage proposal took place at the Wollman Rink on an extremely crowded day. Michael’s proposal to Elizabeth was done amidst a huge amount of people just before New Year’s eve 2011. Although it was a crowded day and tough for both the man doing the proposing and us photographers, we all managed to pull it off. It was truly an honor to be part of this big day in the lives of Michael and Elizabeth, and we left them with some great photos of their wonderful engagement. We all had a really good time. Congratulations to Michael and Elizabeth!

This footage of our dog playing at Rockaway Beach in Queens, NYC was taken just for fun! We were just having a good time with Tucket and some slow motion effects. Hope you enjoy, and thanks for watching!

Helen and David, the lovely couple pictured, hired us to take some photos of them just because they didn’t really have any good ones in all their time together. It was a fun shoot and they were a pleasure to work with! Both Brooklyn Bridge Park and Fulton Ferry State Park are just great places in New York City to take outdoor family portraits. At Black Paw Photo, we really enjoy doing our sessions outdoors because of the variety of beautiful images we’re able to capture with all the different natural backdrops available.
