Photography Artwork Exhibit - Gowanus Ballroom - 6/24/11

These are images and video of our first photography artwork installation. The exhibit took place from June 24th to July 3rd, 2011 at the Gowanus Ballroom in Brooklyn, NY. The Gowanus Ballroom is an 8000 square foot gallery space that hosts bi-monthly art shows. This particular show includes over 45 different artists, performers, and musicians.

During the time between shows, the Gowanus Ballroom is the home of Serett Metal Works, an architectural metal work and blacksmithing company. Joshua Young is the owner of Serett Metal works as well as the host of the exhibit. The show was curated by Ursula Viglietta.

About the Exhibit:

The Architecture of Devotion
June 24 – July 3, 2011
Opening reception Friday June 24, 6:00pm
The Gowanus Ballroom
55 9th Street
Brooklyn, NY 11215

The Architecture of Devotion features emerging Brooklyn artists working in styles and techniques that recall religious and devotional art of the past. The exhibition transforms the cathedral-like Gowanus Ballroom, a nineteenth century steel mill and current home of Serrett Metalworks, to interrogate various representations of the sacred and profane.
